You know the expression always a bridesmaid never a bride, I feel like that could have been true for Nick! He has been a groomsman in quite a few of the weddings I have shot recently, and now finally he was the groom! In fact, almost the entire #saubercrew have been at past weddings I’ve photographed! #prefesionalweddingparty! This definitely came in handy when it came time to brave the cold on Friday for outdoor portraits!
We totally lucked out on weather for the last day of November in North Dakota! It was about 28 above 0 and really foggy, which actually made for some amazing frosty images! I’m so excited to show you! I was really unsure when Quinn contacted me earlier this fall to photograph their November 30th wedding in Stanley, North Dakota. But my hat is off to Quinn for getting this beautiful winter boho wedding planned and executed in under 4 months! Seriously, Quinn, you could totally start a wedding planning business!
From deer skulls and antlers to dream catchers hanging from the ceiling this was a boho masterpiece! Walls made of lights and beautiful pink uplighting turned the Montrail County South Complex into quite the wedding venue!
My second shooter, Rachel, and I started off the morning at Quinn’s house where the girls were getting ready! Amanda Blatnik from A Cut Above by Amanda did a phenomenal job on hair and makeup! I absolutely love when brides choose to get airbrush makeup, it creates such a photo ready finish!
As I finished up photographing all the details, Rachel headed off to meet up with the guys at Nick’s place! She said when she walked through the door she immediately recognized almost all the groomsman from past weddings we had shot together!
The day went off without a hitch there was really only one thing that kinda threw a bump in the day. In the haste of planning a wedding so fast getting a bustle in the dress got overlooked. After helping to bustle 100’s of dresses over the years I felt fairly confident in my abilities to put one in! Though I don’t think I should add seamstress to my resume anytime soon I can now say I can put a simple bustle in!
I think it’s safe to say everyone had an amazing time at Quinn and Nick’s wedding, and the reception was no exception! Watching the little kids sing along to Johnny Cash’s version of You Are My Sunshine during Quinn’s Daddy Daughter Dance about brought tears to everyone’s eyes! (my new favorite song for daddy-daughter dances! Click the link to listen!)
Quinn and Nick, thank you so much allowing me to photograph your beautiful wedding! I absolutely loved working with you and your families! I can’t wait to watch your marriage blossom in the coming years,
